Computers (General): October 2006 Archives

I just couldn't let it get the best of me. So, I finally successfully got around to getting Xubuntu running on the Wallstreet Powerbook. In fact, I got ya a screenshot of me doing some crap on there:

I recently borrowed a Wallstreet G3 Powerbook off of my Dad (I don't really know why he bought it in the first place). I wanted to give it a good chance at life again.
The Wallstreet is about 8 years old as of now and its not up to Mac OS X hardware-wise. So, I decided to give Ubuntu a chance. Actually, I'm trying Xubuntu which is a lighter variant of regular Ubuntu.
The Wallstreet has a good size 20GB hard drive and a relatively speedy 300MHz G3 processor. The only area I'm really worried in is the amount of ram, 128MB. Well, I'm also worried about the lowend (even for its time) 12-inch passive matrix 800x600 screen. I suppose I'll just have to see how it goes.
   Wish me luck.

EDIT AT 6:22PM   F--- it, I give up. Damn that 6 hours I just wasted pissed me off. That's the fourth time I've tried to install one of the various flavors of Linux that are abound and that's the fourth time I've been really disappointed. I suppose I just don't have the patience or knowledge necessary to actually succeed.

The WoWs and Life...

I've started playing World of Warcraft again. I have to admit that I missed playing it a little lately.
I'm still working on getting my paladin, Hokusai, to level 60 before the expansion pack comes out. Mind you, I don't really bother going into groups unless I really have to. So, it might be a bit. All my friends payed the transfer 'fee' to move their characters to a RP server to truly 'geek' it up (dorking it out or geeking it up, Hmm?).
   Still waiting for Starcraft: Ghost...
