Xubuntu and the Wallstreet...

| | Comments (2)

I recently borrowed a Wallstreet G3 Powerbook off of my Dad (I don't really know why he bought it in the first place). I wanted to give it a good chance at life again.
The Wallstreet is about 8 years old as of now and its not up to Mac OS X hardware-wise. So, I decided to give Ubuntu a chance. Actually, I'm trying Xubuntu which is a lighter variant of regular Ubuntu.
The Wallstreet has a good size 20GB hard drive and a relatively speedy 300MHz G3 processor. The only area I'm really worried in is the amount of ram, 128MB. Well, I'm also worried about the lowend (even for its time) 12-inch passive matrix 800x600 screen. I suppose I'll just have to see how it goes.
   Wish me luck.

EDIT AT 6:22PM   F--- it, I give up. Damn that 6 hours I just wasted pissed me off. That's the fourth time I've tried to install one of the various flavors of Linux that are abound and that's the fourth time I've been really disappointed. I suppose I just don't have the patience or knowledge necessary to actually succeed.

You can say fuck, Thomas. You say it enough out loud....

Either way, I'm watching you install it and it work now, so you need to update your update!

Yes, all is working now. Xubuntu is working just fine after giving it another try. Mind you, I don't know if the ethernet, sound, or various other things actually work either. Hmm, weird.
