The Console Wars (2006)

| | Comments (6)

From my point of view, the war of the video game consoles are starting to heat up again. Unlike the usual war with only two sides, this particular war has three sides. Yep, one more than the usual. Pretty exciting, eh?
Well, the first contender is Microsoft's second attempt at an invasion into the console market. Yep, the xBox 360 (It rotated around and went in its original direction?) is the successor to the original xBox. Personally, I don't like Microsoft and I wonder how a chiefly software company is now making game consoles. Nevertheless, their xBox 360 is nothing revolutionary. It displays better quality graphics than the last generation consoles. Yep, that's all I can think of.
Creating quite a hub-bub is the Playstation 3. The rumors I hear circulation the 'net about Sony and the PS3 don't bode well for the success of this console; especially at its pricetag. Nevertheless, the Cell processor(s) that it uses are suppose to offer some pretty amazing capabilities. I can only hope that it does. Other than that, it promises games that look better than the last generation (Ooo, a suprise there.)
Lastly, we have the Nintendo Revolution or Wii, or whatever. I haven't really been paying any attention to all of the consoles, but I believe that this one might offer something new. I'm not too sure on that point, though. I really should be paying more attention if I want to talk about such things.
I'm probably going to keep going for some time with the current PS2 that I use, but the time may come when I get to choose another. I would probably pick the Wii if things don't bode well for the PS3. The xBox isn't even an option...

why, how much are they saying the PS3 might cost?

Well, I've heard it is the most expensive out of the three.

crap, more than the XBox 360? It cost $10,000!

Crap. I just got a regular Xbox. I'm obsolete. Damn.

Yep. Bill Gates is going to come to your house and threaten to take it away unless you buy the new 360.

now, now -- don't be so hasty. they probaby won't go that far -- though, expect them to drop all support for the old XBox's soon due to "upgrades in their network."
